Ejido El Rosario in Sierra Campanario, Ocampo Municipality

Characteristics: This sanctuary is unique because it is the only one which has a tourist lane. The distance of the journey to get to the colonies varies from 1.2 to 1.6 km, depending on their location.

The site has a commercial area where you can buy T-shirts, pens, handicraft, and home-made food.

Notes:
1.- We recommend that you use the official lavatories in order to reduce the ecologic impact of your visit.
2.- There is no authorized horse riding service.

How to get there:
In your own vehicle: Leave Mexico City towards Toluca in the State of Mexico. In Toluca take Federal Highway No. 15 towards Morelia, until you get to Zitacuaro. El Rosario ejido is located in the OcampoMunicipality, in the State of Michoacan, 30 kms from Zitacuaro and 217 kms from Mexico City. It is necessary to take the turn-off in San Felipe de los Alzati, 9 kms from Zitacuaro, until you get to OcampoCity and, from there, enter directly to the sanctuary.

By bus: The best route is to leave from Terminal Poniente (Western Bus Station) in Mexico City to Zitacuaro. It is located at the Observatorio Metro Station. There are at least two commercial bus lines that leave every half hour. In Zitacuaro there are transportation services to Ocampo and Angangueo, from where you can get to the Michoacan sanctuaries. There are microbuses and buses which can take you from Ocampo to the sanctuary El Rosario.
