Ejido El Capulín in Cerro Pelón, Donato Guerra Municipality
Characteristics: In this sanctuary you can watch the largest and most beautiful prairie of the Monarch region called Los Tres Gobernadores (The Three Governors). Because of its access position and the hibernation colonies location, it is possible to watch an amazing transition of the vegetation, an attractive sight for those who enjoy nature. The distance to the butterfly colonies may be up to 4 km.

How to get there:
In your own vehicle: Leave Mexico City towards Toluca in the State of Mexico. In Toluca, take Federal Highway No. 15 towards Morelia. 15 Kms after reaching Villa Victoria, from the Monument of Miguel Alemán, follow signs towards Valle de Bravo (to the left). After approximately 20 kms, there is a turn off to the right towards the city of Donato Guerra, after which you will find the Sanctuary El Capulín.
By bus:From Mexico City, the best thing is to leave from Terminal Poniente (Western Bus Terminal) at the Observatorio Metro, towards Zitacuaro. There are at least two commercial bus lines which leave every half hour. To visit the Sanctuary El Capulin, the best thing is to take a taxi from Zitacuaro and in 30 minutes you will be there.
